Actress Rashmika Mandanna, best known for her performances in Animal, Dear Comrade and the upcoming Thama, is adding another dimension to her journey — that of an entrepreneur. The actress recently unveiled her fragrance label, Dear Diary, a brand positioned as a heartfelt blend of memory, emotion, and everyday luxury.
A star’s reflection turns into a brand
Just days before the launch, Rashmika shared a note on social media where she candidly reflected on life’s pace, questions without answers, and the importance of slowing down. That thoughtfulness spills into her brand’s ethos — Dear Diary isn’t just about perfume, but about pausing to capture fleeting moments and emotions.
“There wasn’t a single ‘eureka’ moment,” she admits. “It was something that mulled quietly over the years, nurtured by my fascination with how fragrance can hold on to memories I never want to lose.”

Dear Diary: The concept
Positioned at around ₹2,400 a bottle, Dear Diary enters a competitive perfume market that has seen homegrown D2C brands embrace bold designs, quirky names, and strong narrative hooks. Rashmika, however, has taken a softer approach. The brand focuses on comfort, rootedness, and sincerity — each bottle described as “a quiet, comforting hug” that channels the actress’s warmth and values.
The name Dear Diary reflects Rashmika’s desire to help people frame their own stories in scents, much like personal entries in a journal. Each fragrance in the line is infused with local ingredients and meant to be an emotional keepsake.

Mixed market reactions
While fans have welcomed Rashmika’s entry into entrepreneurship, industry observers have been divided. A LinkedIn post that gained traction remarked that while Rashmika is the kind of celebrity who could easily build an authentic brand community, the branding felt “a little plain” compared to the bold storytelling of peers like Kay Beauty or 82°E.
At this price point, the review noted, branding has to work extra hard: “Is it premium enough? Is it cool enough? Is it me enough?”

Industry support and star endorsements
Despite the mixed branding reviews, Rashmika has found strong support within the industry. Her Pushpa co-star Allu Arjun shared an Instagram story showcasing a gift box of Dear Diary perfumes with a handwritten note: “Let’s write our stories together.”
“Thank you soo much, my dear Rush! All the best for your new journey. I’m always wishing the best for you coz you are. PS: Love the names,” he wrote, giving the launch an extra dose of star power.
Rashmika’s entrepreneurial debut reflects a wider trend of Indian celebrities turning into lifestyle entrepreneurs, leveraging their influence to create personal brands with a long-term play. For her, Dear Diary is a way to invite people into her world, encouraging them to slow down, breathe, and carry their stories with them — in scent form.
And while her cinematic journey continues with Thama, slated for a Diwali release, her entrepreneurial story has just begun.
