Bollywood star Deepika Padukone has become the first Indian to lend her voice to Meta’s AI assistant, which is integrated across the company’s platforms, including the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses.

The announcement was made after Deepika shared a behind-the-scenes video on Instagram from Meta’s dubbing studio on Wednesday. “Okay, so this is pretty cool, I think! I’m now part of Meta AI and you can chat with my voice in English across India, United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand. Try it and let me know what you think!” she captioned the post.
With this, Deepika joins global stars such as Awkwafina and Judi Dench, who have previously collaborated with Meta to bring celebrity voices to its AI ecosystem.
Meta also announced that Indian users can now interact with Meta AI in Deepika’s Indian English voice. The company has rolled out full Hindi language support and integrated UPI Lite payments, aiming to make the experience more localised and personal for users in India.
Apart from this major tech collaboration, Deepika was recently appointed as the Mental Health Ambassador by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. She has also been vocal about improving working conditions in the entertainment industry, advocating for an eight-hour workday.
On the film front, Deepika was last seen in Singham Again (2024) and will next appear alongside Shah Rukh Khan in King.
